Liverpool are set to fight off competition from Manchester United to land Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri, reports have claimed. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the German champions after struggling to make an impact under Pepe Guardiola. It is believed a bid in the region of £15 million could secure his signature. Italian giants Juventus are also known to be keen on the winger, but it looks like Liverpool have jumped the queue, if Bayern sanction a move. Liverpool are hoping to wrap up a deal quickly before the World Cup because his price could be hiked up further if he stars for Switzerland during the tournament. Rodgers seems to be turning his attention to Shaqiri as an alternative option to Adam Lallana with Southampton seemingly playing hardball with their evaluation of their captain despite Liverpool placing a take it or leave it offer of £25million.
